can anyone help-looking at buying a stumpjumper fsr or an epic comp and not sure which would be best. I mostly ride trails such as grizedale or gisburn, or lakes riding. Cheers (both are dfw) x

    Stumpy. The Epic is an XC race bike.

    Epic. unless your doing big jumps with big bumps get the epic. Does exactly what the stumpy does but faster

    Epic = Competitive XC
    Stumpy = XC Trail

    All depends on how you ride the trails, if you ride them fast get the Stumpy FSR, if you ride the trails and roll over the hills, don’t push it to the limit and want a bike for long hours off road rides the Epic or FSRxc .

    I'd go for the epic, is seriously fast up the hills and it will refine your skills going down them.

    A guy i ride with rides one and has done downhill courses (cwncarn) on it and jumps(not really advisable), like the ones on the energy section of white's level at Afan. So it can definetly ride hard and fast and you will feel the difference on those long lakes passes and mountain climbs.

    if you ride trails go for the Orange 5 Pro or S model
    Much better quality and build than the Stumpy

    Did not get on with the brain shock
    but that is a personal one

    The Stumpy just felt safe and did not inspire me to the next level
    been mentioned in the review of the bike on here

    Get a test bike and give it a go

    I have just sold my Epicto buy a Scott Spark!

    Would go for the Stumpy of trail riding.

    Look at the Spark if not dead set on Specialized, best bike I have ridden!!
