I am thinking of a Brodie Holeshot as a do it all hardtail, does anyone have any experiences with Brodie bikes? http://www.progressive-bikes.co.uk

They look nice and seem well priced, what else should i consider for a £1200 budget for a tough hardtail for all day riding

    Hi

I went riding with one of the guys from progressive (Simon) yesterday round the FTD at cannock.

He was riding the holeshot, its a nice well specced bike

rides like a demon through the singletrack, but still fine just churning out the miles

Give em an email, he might be able to hook you up with a test ride

That looks like it might be hard work for all-day riding.

Have you thought about one of the longish-forked steel hardtails, like the Cotic Soul or Cove Handjob? Or even the Orange P7?

If you like alu, the Marin Rocky Ridge seems to be very popular - have you looked at that?

Chaka, i have had a Handjob before and fancy something a little more beefy. I have looked at all the usual suspects, just thought here might be something else out there.

Oh right, I like the look of that Dialled Bikes Alpine frame in the toaster thread in the General forum.

The Brodies look like really nice bikes though.

I have a P7. It does everything barring dirt jumping and downhill.
I'd echo the Cotic Soul, and if that's not enough strength you can go for the BFe.
If you check out the latest issue of dirt, they take a brief look at the Cove stiffee, P7, On-one 456, santa cruz chameleon, charge blender, cotic soul, DMR trailstar and a one off curtis frame.
I'd say the P7, chameleon, stiffee and soul fit the bill.
