what is the best type of rear suspension e.g. single pivort

    Personally I'd get a bike as well as the pivot - I find my "All Mountain" Commencal 5.5.1 goes pretty damn well on rocky Lakeland trails and I don't think you'd want anything much less robust. I'm fairly sure that's a single pivot with complicated lever mechanism but it works jolly damn well both behaving impecably on fast rocky downhills and nailing traction on the uphills. I should imagine the (Single-pivot) Orange 5 AM would also be well suited to the Lakes, possibly also the Santa Cruz Heckler (don't know if that's single pivot).

    All discplines have variations of all platforms - really have to test and see if you like it. Some have notcable pedal kickback, others less so, some bob etc
