Any reccomendations for spending upto £1400-ish on a full sus trail bike. I'm 6'3" and 17stone so it needs to be able to take the weight (suspension issues?)

Quite like:
- Specialized pitch pro
-Cannondale prophet 2
-Commencal 5.5.3
Anything else i'm missing?
Also anyone know of any shops in South Yorkshire area that has these (or others suggested) as demo bikes?

Cheers

Commencal 5.5.3 is a great bit of kit (a mate has one)

The Pitch is a heavier up front end due to the Pike fork, plus for pure trail it might be a little OTT (IMHO)

Dunno much about the 'Dale, sorry!

The Prophet is similar to the Pitch - I would agree with Andy_B that they are both a little too much for pure trails, but if you want to try your hand at light AM riding they would be good.

I would also suggest you take a look at the Giant Trance range.

If you can stretch to the Meta 5.5.2 it's worth it for the better kit. I have seen some Commencal dealers not so very far north of South Yorkshire discounting upto 20% on this years models which would bring the 5.5.2 down to £1359.

    I've ridden the 5.5.2 (2006) and got a 5.5.1 (2007) and it's been fantastic.

What the difference between AM and trail riding?
  • @ Ciaran500, there is a topic about that here:
