Tuesdays.
Through a very scientific survey (me, cycling to work for the last two years) I had empirically proved that Tuesdays are the most dangerous day for me to cycle to work.
All my 'incidents', an awful lot of near misses and most idiotic road behaviour (mostly by others, but very occasionally by me) all seem to happen on a Tuesday. it's odd, but really really consistent.
Why oh why oh why, eh?

There is more traffic on my commute on a tuesday thsan a monday.
I think a lot of people working part time or compressed hours have a monday off. also people returning to work after a long weekend contribute to extra traffic.
this extra traffic alone increases risk of incidents, without factoring the increased impatience of delayed drivers trying to gain a fraction of a seconds advantageWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

Yep.
I've noticed that the commuter trains I regularly use are definitely busiest on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Lots of people have long weekends involving a Friday or Monday off and, as everyone knows, Thursday is the new Friday.0 -
there was certainly more traffic this morning than most days in recent weeks - i suppose half term is over now too which is only adding to the critical mass. Increased impatience sounds familiar...
Doesn't explain why you don't get the same effect on a Wednesday, though! I always find Wednesday a breeze...point your handlebars towards the heavens and sweat like you're in hell0 -
I blame the Boomtown Rats."A recent study has found that, at the current rate of usage, the word 'sustainable' will be worn out by the year 2015"0

In France, it seems that Tuesday and Thirsday are the busiest days on streets.0

One reason I started commuting by bike/train/train was the terrible traffic and the 30-40min queue to get to park in the hospital carpark.
Mondays and Fridays are often taken off the working week to make a long weekend.0 -
