i commute daily to work but very rarely see a car or hgv i use main roads and through a fairly big town which i navigate in a safe and controlled way ....
but when at my job a (don't cringe) a HGV driver mostly in or around north london i have got to admire city cyclists for there perception and awareness of road and conditions
when ever possible i'm there to leave you the space you (and i) the desserve on the road ....
so if you are crossing my path i'll be waving you through
safe commute

I had a HGV driver a couple of weeks ago who actually went out of his way to give me a decent amount of space when overtaking he did so in such a considerate manner that I almost called his employer to congratulate them on having such a respectable driver.0 -
Through my experience, HGV and Bus drivers are more considerate to cyclists of anyone on the roads. They always seem to give me loads of room, and I always give them a wave to say thanks.
The only exception to this is those deathtrap buses which are run by small scale private companies and never seem to have any passengers...they seem to think that the MadMax world is already with us
Side tracked slightly...the least considerate drivers are:
1. People who drive bashed up Rovers...I hazard a guess at no tax, no insurance, probably drug dealers.
2. Women driving small cars, who still can't judge the width.
3. Company BMW drivers, generally men. Arrogant tossers.0 -
TheFoolio888..the least considerate drivers are:
* females in LHD vehicles, around here that means American.
White Van Man.
Generally HGVs are less likely to try to push past, especially if the vehicle is sign written.
All we need now is more folk like feaseyrider to spread the good word among HGV drivers.0 -
WVM definitely. Especially the ones with a window open and an arm hanging out. It's March and it's raining, what's he going to do? Push me? Throw his fag end at me? No, this time just call me a wanker.0

I was a HGV driver but I always thought that tipper/skip lorry drivers gave us a bad press. I don't like the idea of pay or bonuses being determined by the amount of trips you can fit in a shift. It just puts pressure on a driver to take risks. Good old Artic drivers however are Knights of the Road.....generally.
