Does anybody know where/if I can get a device that supports the back of a bike frame in a transport bag so that the rear derailleur doesn't have to be removed?

I've seen such things sold as part of a bike bag (e.g. Air Caddy FunnyBike Rear Adjustable support), but I need one for the bag I've already got

Cheers

Cheap mountain bikes often have a rear mech guard ask at your LBS to see if they have a spare one.

What's your problem with taking the rear derailleur off? It's less than a 2 minute job - probably quicker than putting any sort of protective device on.

I'd still have to take the chain off or do that horrible taping the removed derailleur to the frame - and I'm a mechanical clutz who would probably set fire to the frame half way through

Try GB cycles. They stock a lot of stuff from Sci-con who may do what you're after. I bought one of the anti shock frames in the Jan sales that fits into a bike bag. You clamp the bike to the frame via the front and rear drop outs, and the chainset and rear der is protected.

Get a KMC chain. Chains take 2 toolless seconds to take off then.

The Sci-Con Anti-Shock Frame Support looks like the thing - a bit more elaborate (and heavy) than my idea but I like the way it secures both forks as well. Shame Wiggle don't carry it - I've got a discount to use up. Front runner so far
