Replacement seat post

Yeah, just spent ~£300 already on my bike with all the other kit I had in previous thread, now it's down to a single item thought I'd make a new one
Had a 27.2d layback stock post on my giant acid, however it's so badly rounded the external splines are litterally down to the core, and internal have less than 1/2 visible, and less than 1/4 that would be at all effective.
according to technical specs on giant site, the stock post was "Hsin Lung SP" (sounds as bad as it was, lol)
from measuring it seems like the post was approx 310 long, layback (unsure of angle, however this made it even worse trying to tighten the forward bolt)
Using a giant acid frame, so the post can sit approx 170mm MAX within the frame, and using it for mainly DJ / moderate FR means I like/need the seat to sit relitively low.
approx budget £40
looking at thompson elite on merlin for £43, however it's in-line and 350mm long, meaning I'd probably need to cut it down, something I don't really want to have to do unless really necassery.
also been advised on Easton Vice, however elite for that price makes it almost obsolete
Wondering if going in-line will make a difference (been told it won't, however seat position will affect me much worse than a taller rider since I'm 5'4" (-.-) hence this concerns me the most, and don't want to waste money I've worked hard for.
Thanks

I'd go for a control tech smica post, very light, strong and cheap. Plus you won't have an issue cutting it down.0

That's what you mean right? From the reviews it sounds pretty good, and I think I'll go for it at the length0
