Bikes on Easyjet

Apologies if this has been posted before. I did have a look around using the search tool, but nothing jumped out at me.
The easyjet website seems to suggest that one need only turn up in plenty of time, and with a fist full of dollars, in order for the bike to be slung into the hold of one of their planes. Is this true do any of you know? Do I not need to book in advance?
I would love to pose these questions directly to someone from easyjet but their number is hidden rather well.
Any advice appreciated.
