Does anyone know if this DVD being sold on the Cycling Weekly Online shop is any good.

I'm just after a few pointers with regards setting up and tuning the gears and a few other bits I'd prefer to do myself.

I have one i bought from Parker International, that seems okay - it allows you to have a look at the job before you start.. Also there have been numerous links on Bike Radar to various sites showing maintenance tasks on a bike. Several no doubt on" you tube" or just google it.
  • I found it useful- the production company are selling it direct for £12.99 + post and delivered in 2 days

I wouldn't bother. Check out the video clips on Bikeradar - fine, if little bit casual (Sorry Jez, ever heard of a torque wrench?)

There are plenty of good maintenance vid clips on youtube. Better, get a good book like the Park Blue Book or Ziinn, or spend some time on the superb Park maintenance website.

You then need to get a decent collection of tools and put it into practice. Practice gives confidence - assuming you follow the instructions and do it correctly.

Don't rush; use the correct tool for the job; do be arsed to put the bike in a repair stand; fully engage your allen keys and remember you're supposed to be having fun.

Excellent advice from robbarker, practice does instill confidence. And patience of course, of which you will need.
