Grrrrrr! Front Dérailleur Problem...

Having already had my new bike back to the shop to stop the chain getting thrown off when shifting to the big ring up front, I have now noticed another problem.
In the lowest gear, the chain rubs the inside of the front dérailleur. I tried adjusting the inner limit screw, but it didn't seem to make much difference.
Any ideas as to how I might fix this one without another trip to my LBS?
Is it normal to have these kinds of teething problems?
