Noob questions about brakes

I've recently bought a new mountain bike and i'm trying to work out how to adjust the rear brake lever.
I only need to pull the front level 2/3 cm for the brake to fully engage. I have to pull the rear leaver almost to the bar for it to engage and it just does not fell very responsive,
The brakes are hydraulics (something that didnt exist last time I owned a bike) and I dont know where to start to make adjustments to get the feel I want.
I read through the manual but I couldn't decipher what most of it meant or which bit related to my issue.
This is my bike: http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDeta ... goryID=310
Any help/advice/tips are greatly appreciated.
Regards
Dan

If you have got Giant mph brakes on your bike there should be a barrel shape on the top of the lever master cylinder with a chrome knob on it twist this knob to take up play in brakes if you havent got giant brakes sounds like brake needs bleeding take it back to shop if you dont know what youre doing it can go horribly wrongFig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0
