Hi
I was out riding yesterday and my chain just snapped!
I still have the snapped chain and I also have a chain tool (just a really cheep one from tesco) I tryed spliting the chain so I could join it back together but it diddent work.
Will taking out two links affect my gears?
Should I just buy a new chain?
I would be really happy to recieve any advice
Thanks verry much

I'd just buy a new chain. If it has snapped, then it must be on the way out anyway. Check your cassette and chainrings for wear also because a new chain won't run on worn gears.Perpetuating the myth that Lincolnshire is flat.0

New chain time, yes shortening it will affect your gears and could cause the chain to jam in certain sprockett combinations. The fact it's snapped would suggest it's strecthed which also probably means a new cassette as Gerry Attrick said .
Get a decent chain tool, something like the Top peak one at a tenner is good.
