Hi all i am all to fond of giving advice on everyone else's bikes and problems but.... when its your own little baby its a diferant story .

Here is my bike as it stands :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Standard 07 frame with reba race forks,
XTR front mech
XT rear,
XT chainset.
Speciallized magnesium pedals,
Easton EA70 seatpost,
Sporting the speciallized World Cup Limited Edition Saddle,
Ritchey wet black WCS Stem and WCS straight Bars,
Hope gold Q/R Skewers set ( seatpin, front and rear wheels)
Hope Gold Headset, and Hope Gold spacers with End plugs.... Yes! in Gold.

The only upgrade left for me is the XTR rapidfire shifters, (i think?), the mavic 317 rims with DT spokes is just fine !!!!

ANY IDEAS :: FEEL FREE TO GIVE ME A HAND ???

P.S. If any of you wanna see the work in progress goto my web page link below >

Interesting, you dont usually see mavic hubs built up this way - usually in a factory wheelset

Bike sounds sweet to me, can't go wrong with the shifters your looking at.

Have you thought about the sram x9 shifters. Are sram and shimano even compatible when it comes to shifters/ deraileurs combos?

  • my mistake supersonic they are shimano standard hubs on mavic 317 rims with dt swiss spokes,
BTW any idea as to how i could lay my hands on some world cup team decals i want to spice the bike up slightly or just some S-work stuff?

I am hopeing to get MBUK to publish a picture of my bike in their readers bikes section mine is pretty cool, admittedly it could do with some more detailed peices like better wheelset, but otherwise its ok dont you think?

Its a good ,balanced build. Saying that, the wheels would be the first thing I would upgrade (if the hubs are deore or 475) - its not the lightest wheelset.

As for getting in the mag - I guess you are one of 1000s!

Sounds like a pretty decent spec.

I have the same wheels on my XTC.They have been good but undoubredly could be lighter.Even something like a pair of Crossrides or XT hubs with Mavic 717 rims for about £120 would be la good bit lighter.

Up your budget and you could lop about a pound off wheel weight.

Take a look at the wheel options on www.merlincycles.co.uk

Don`t know what tyres you have, but you they are a very effective upgrade for not much dosh.

  • I have a pair of 1.75 Landcrusier tyres from Schwabe with semi-slick tread they are very good !! i can't up the budget at the moment, im kinda buying one thing at a time when i can afford it yano?
As Supersonic sadi to me (ref earlier reply ) money would burn a hole in my pocket if i let it lol
