I have a specialized stumpjumper 1997 fully rigid which i am thinking of putting a fork on.
How much travel will it take if any. I am not worried about upsetting the geometry because it too step for me anyway, however I am concerned about the stresses that a larger mm fork might make?

Opps its a 1989 stumpjumper I have no sense of time honestly. Still it was not made with a shock in mind. In fact if my memory serves me right it was not until about a year later that i saw front shocks coming onto bikes. Perhaps I just ought to leave it as the singlespeed rigid i have made it. (I have no idea about the crown to axle I will check it out tommorow)0

SS rigid is the way to go with it.."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
