Hi,
I'm looking at putting some proper (no elastomers!!!) forks on my 1999  Marin B17 (FS, not the new HT).

Will Tora 318's fit?

I know it's an old bike, but I still like the action of the rear and the pearlescent-white looks of the frame.

I better check, but I think it it 1 1/8"....

Is it OK to use single crown forks, even thought the B17 comes with triple crown originally?

well axel to crown length is more important and IIRC the B17 did not have a big travel fork. so a long travel Tora could be OK.

What was the old forks travel and the new toras?

IIRC, the RST Hi-5 was claimed as 120mm, although I don't think the elastomers EVER allowed anything even approaching full-travel. The Tora 318's are upto 130mm, so should be good.
I'm thinking of Tora's as I've got them on a Carrera Fury, and I like the feel of them. Oh, and they're cheap

i have seen the bikes with 120-150 travel forks SC and Tripple clamps a 130mm tora would be fine.

Cheers Nick. Made my mind up now.
I can't wait to get 'old faithful' back on the trails.
