Just passing this onto the Peaslake/Hurtwood area riders who may still not be 'Friends' of Hurtwood Control and so won't have seen this on their Forum. To join as a friend and support mountain biking in the area please visit http://www.hurtwoodcontrol.co.uk

Three weeks ago we put a barrier up at the start of the path where it leaves the main fire road above Peaslake Cemetary. There was a sign put on it explaining this was now a footpath only, it was clearly marked Hurtwood Control Trust.
It was put there as it was becoming increasingly dangerous with speeding bikes traveling down a narrow path used by local villagers.
Unfortunately some idiot/s decided to remove it this week. We will be replacing it tomorrow with another one.
Although bikers could easily by-pass the barrier and continue down the path, I would like to think there is some respect for the land owners wishes, and goodwill amongst the bike community. If this goodwill does not exist, it does not augur too well for any future liaison between Hurtwood Control Trust and mountain bikers.
If any one knows who did this would they please pass this message on.
Thank you
