Caring for your Chamois

Hi
I have some decent Sugoi shorts which when I first got were fantastic to wear, really comfortable.
Recently the chamois has started to go slightly hard on the surface, just enough to start chaffing on a long ride 3-4 hr +, I don’t normally use any kind of chamois cream or use any fabric softener when I wash them.
Is there something I am doing wrong? or should i care for them in a different manner.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I'd certainly recommend using a chamois cream, you can apply it either to the chamois or directly to the skin, amongst other things it'll keep the chamois nice and soft, also if it's a natural chamois then it would probably be a good idea to treat it with some chamois cream after washing to stop the chamois drying out and going hard.

The chamois is a non natural one, ie made of padding with a thin brushed nylon covering, just like Endura MT500 ones.
I wondered if the Assos creme would help at all?
Perhaps I will have to try it out. :roll:0
