I'm stuck at which to buy, 2007 or 2008 marin quake 7.3:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... AILGrWbpeg
that shows a comparison between the two bikes.
important parts i guess are steerer tube 1.5" instead of 1 1/8", rear axle 12mm/10mm and XT rather than Sram X.9. the rest in theory are minor changes in my mind.

i can get the new one hopefully less than £2300 where as the 2007 version is only £1800. which should i go for considering the £500ish difference?
getting the 2007 version means new brakes and money towards forks for my other bike too

is there anything about 2007 totems or fox air dhx 5.0 that was particularly bad or any of the components that are much better than others?
any ideas would be great, ta.

Avid Codes too. The oversize steerer and rear thru axle (I assume that is what it is) will add stiffness. Worth 500? Not sure! Have you tested one?

yeah i've already got my heart set on one but i've just thought about this dilemma. I've already got a marin and the lengths of tubes is similar so i've got a good idea of how it will ride. breifly thought about a patriot too but came back to the quake.

codes vs hope Moto V2 is a close one, bling vs slightly better performance?
    Worth 500? Not sure!
my thoughts exactly hence the thread

hmmmm - I have codes and V2s and would go V2s any day ....

1.5 up front adds security and stiffness but not essential....

XT on par with SRAM X9

I'd go with the 2007 - gives you more options should you ever need/want to change forks, better brakes all in all a good buy for £1800

LISTEN TO THE MARIN MAN

and on purely aesthetics I like the 2007 more.....

Marin are future proofing all of their new frames though with modular dropouts which could come in handy

see i like the white with the red dropout... but yeah i thought i noticed the modular dropout which could be handy in the future and i can always turn the headset into 1.5" too...

yes yes mr attack trail maybe you will get those hope brakes and fox forks soon
