I need to replace my trusty Schwalbe City Jet tyres and they have been so good I'm getting the same again. I have been riding 1.50 section City Jets but they also do a 1.95 section version. What would be the advantage/disadvantage of a wider section tyre? I like the 1.50's but I was just curious. I pump the 1.50's up to there max as I prefer a firm ride (ooo err missus) :D

Carl.

The only advantage I am aware of with a fatter tyre on the road is more shock resistance. If you are happy with a well inflated firm ride, I'd go the other way to a 1" or 1.25". On a 1" its similar to a 25mm section tyre so will fly along :)

think the city jet comes in just those two sizes - the wider 1.95 will be heavier and have more rolling resistance, but slightly more shock absorbing potential. Stick with the 1.5 if you use your bike mostly on the road.
