Thanks for the reminder :) I went last year. It was packed but quite good fun and an easy 50 mile round trip :)

Sponsored by Sky sports this year!

Maybe we'll get a free satellite subscription?

...is it just for Londoners or can bumpkins/out of towners join in?
...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...
  • Welcome back the freewheel, but WTF does Sky Sports fit in as sponsor for Ford's sake? I guess there's no "Sky Potter-About" channel just yet but at least Hovis had the right slipper-wearing credentials.
I'm going to emulate that chap in the other thread and pedal round puffing on a pipe.
@ChrisLS - come and see what the fuss is about. Bet our potholes are bigger than yours :)

    I registered ages ago.

Just a fun day really to enjoy the roads without traffic. Although all those bloody cyclists could make it a pain

at the risk of a flame war, what''s the point in registering, apart from getting yourself on every mailing list out there, why not turn up on the day?
  • I know they didn't, but I got the impression that only people wearing the orange bibs would be allowed on the route. Not sure how they could have policed that though. Some of the vids posted on youtube look like it was quite scarry in places with people racing past toddles.

That's what hacked me off last year- all the idiots with little or no regard for little kids & families, weaving all over the place at high speed. It was surprising there weren't more pile-ups. Hopefully, they'll have learnt some lessons from last year about traffic management (i.e. holding the flow back so a single pedestrian could cross, those jams could have been a lot better handled.).
Indeed, bloody cyclists. And out of towners (oh, that's me!) :)
