Is there a classic rear shock for all mountain riding That gives real benefits in performance. Like a Pike does to the front end. What are you finding real good?

Many thanks

  • meta 5.5 with a fox rp2. Anything likely to do a better job?

i really wouldn't say so. you've got a nice shock there for sure.
  • I should play about with it a bit more to get the best out of the rp2

I have an RP23 and now that I seem to have settled on one of o the three propedal settings meaning an RP2 might have done the job. The RP2 and RP23 are such a common choice on AM bikes and with good reason. Unless you're looking to start riding much bigger stuff stick with what you have (if you're riding so big you might need a harder coil based shock you might have bought the wrong bike anyway).

i would not be playing with it. Just set it up and have fun.

Or do you have a particular problem with it that you have not mentioned?

best thing you could do would be to send it off to Mojo or TF to get serviced and tuned to your weight and type of riding. Made a huge differance to my Fox
  • Yeah I think you have hit the nail on the head there 'grantboy' getting it serviced and fine tuned to my weight and type of riding seems the way to go. Mojo are litterally just down the road from me. It's expensive though but probally worth it to get the responce suited to each individual.

    Thanks

am having the rear shock on my GT tuned by mojo; im hoping it will make it slightly plusher. but i agree, it is expensive.

  • I am tempted to save up and get a rp23 or wait untill a next year reduction. I mean I seen rp2 going new for the same price as it costs for a tunning and I would not mind so much if it needed the service. But they will not do the tunning without the service!

I had the std RP2 on my Reign frame PUSH'd by TF and it put the shock into the sweat-spot for me - well worth the money and week off the bike !
  • Thats good to hear spud son
