I use Rival. Everything is as light as Dura-Ace apart from the cranks. I actually use a DA cassette because I couldn't get hold of a SRAM one when I put the bike together. Shifting up is easy and very positive, shifting down can sometimes slip but I think its just getting used to it. It does have trim, even though lots of places and people say it doesn't. The rear deralliur is bit chunky and the shifts are bland looking.Basically it doesn't look amazing but if you don't mind not having carbon or really polished aluminum then it works really well and for the money I wouldn't get anything else.

I've got Force and agree with the above comments except the looks issue. I personally think it looks fine but then again, I've never been interested much in the minutia of differences between groupsets looks; imo it's the frame, wheels and colourscheme which make a bike a looker... or not.

At first I also found it tricky to downshift - often shifting too far - but with time and practice this is now very easy.

You can also easily change gear whilst in the drops, so if racing/competing is your game then that is a slight advantage.
  • I found Rival (not tried the others) to be very good in a controlled environment. (Indoors on the turbo). I rode it outside in the cold with winter gloves on, and I must admit, I struggled with the shifting. It may have come more clear with time, but I only had the bike for a few days. With less chunky gloves, I reckon it will be really nice.

It was only going back up the cassette that i struggled with. Couldn't only go up one ring. I always ended up with a handful! I also found the front shift to be a little too easy. Was running a compact and you only needed to brush the lever and it would drop from top to bottom ring. Again....May be user error more than anything!
