A quick question for Merckx owners - his frames have Italian threaded bottom brackets don't they (a legacy from being taught how to build frames by Ugo de Rosa)?

Thanks.

  • Both of my Merckx's have Italian bottom brackets, and I believe you're right that they all have, unless they have changed very recently i.e last couple of years.

    Thanks Rich.

I've a 1980s track frame I've recently acquired and whilst I think it has Italian threading I meant to measure it last night to confirm but forgot and was placing my order for a bottom bracket today.

I've gone Italian so think it'll fit.

You can tell which thread you have by looking at the way they run. Just find the start of the thread and if it runs clockwise it is a right hand, anti-clockwise a left.
