Well on cleaning my bike at the weekend I finally realised my standard wheel skewers have begun rusting!

Any ideas on a decent set of replacements?

Not too pricey, good grip, easy to use etc. etc. etc.

Salsa are pretty good too I found although somewhat pricey!

The Hope skewer review on here has had bad user reviews, otherwise they'd be my pick as they're British manufactured (gotta keep the industry alive!).

Are there XT skewers, maybe stainless steel?

I have no idea where the bad reviews come from - Hope's have been the best I've had to date. They need a drop lube now and again but that's just good sense anyway right?

i've had the hopes for 3 years on one of my bikes, spray it with a bit of wd40 now and again and they are still perfect so i have no idea where the bad reviews come from either.

the hopes are not an enclosed cam, so they dont grip as well. But as long as you're not unlucky they're fine.

Im a big shimano skewer fan myself, I have XTs on my MTB and some basic ones on my road/commute bike. I find they are very easy to secure and not worry about (I'm still paranoid when it comes to skewers after going over the bars due to a faliure as a kid...)

Shimano all the way!!! The XT ones that came with my hubs are tight as hell, never loosen and don't hurt my hand to open, unlike hope ones
