I'm after a new bike (aren't we all - always!). Shortlist as follows..

Planet X Ultegra SL build £1299
Planet X Ultegra £999 - get wheels of my own choice.
Orbea Onix £1599 (Ultegra SL but Ksyrium equipe wheels)
Kuota Kharma £1450 (Ultegra SL Fulcrum 5)

Outside longshot 2007 Trek Madone 5.2 standard spec £1400 (I wish he'd drop the price a bit more!!).

Real longshot - upgrade my 03 steel Lemond with really nice wheels and new groupset (currently feels a bit tank like with Aksiums &Specialized Armadillos, but not sure where else I could lighten the load).

I like the SL, but the Planet X £999 bike seems the best value.

Moret hinking out loud than asking for advice - still dithering.

I had the Kharma last year built up with Centaur and really liked it. It got written off in a crash however. I bought a Kuota Kebel to replace it and love it too...
  • Depending on the frame size you need, you might well spot a suitable bargain at Wiggle, for example:-
    Cayo Triple 2007 £719
    Cayo Izalco Expert £1350
    Felt F55 2007 £1150

Or perhaps you fancy a titanium framed Van Nicholas bike, starting from £1315 for a Euro with Veloce at "Fatbirds" (with 10% free accessories)?

A Nero Corsa with Centaur from Ribble at £1145?

Maybe a 12K Dedacciai Carbon Race Frameset for £471 from DHCyclesport (ebay shop, my LBS down road in Woolston) and then build up a bike to your budget?

Personally, if the sizw was right, I would grab that F55 this second! A steal for a DuraAce groupset bike. The frame is not full carbon, just carbon stays I think, but overall it is great bike.
