Bike computer - Interference

Does anyone else's computer give large readings when passing certain traffic lights? Noticed this morning, a brief blip up to 57mph (and similar) when I couldn't have been doing more than 18mph - very flattering but I don't think my legs are that powerful :D

Also, has anyone noticed their front bike light interfering with the computer readout - speeds doubling etc ?

Interference with some LED lights is a well known phenomena, some 'puters do, others don't. My VDO doesn't have any problem (This may be because it is a digital wireless rather than analogue wireless, I don't know). It's a case of getting a brand that doesn't suffer, I expect others will be along soon with their suggestions about what works and what doesn't.

My old sigma used to get interference from traffic Lights but not all, only the newer installed ones I passed in the time I had it. Now I've got a Cateye Micro Wireless and the lights have no ill effect.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I have a Blackburn Delphi 4.0, and I often get the speed of a passing car displayed. Could it be this ??.

Also get some interfernce from my HRM too.

Thanks guys - I probably will go Cateye next - my current comp's only cheap - does seem to be a brand/technology thing. Been tempted by the Delphi 4 on Parkers though (good value, seems to do alot, and a good brand - noted what Russell mentioned though).

Can anyone else suggest a model that doesn't suffer from traffic lights and/or your front light (flashing in dark).

If it were me, I'd advertise this as a feature, not a glitch! :D
