Can a Dura Ace 10s hub take an Ultegra 10s cassette?

My hub/cassette problems continue! When I try and fit an Ultegra 10s cassette on my Dura Ace 10s hub there is lateral play, but the Ultegra 1.5m washer that goes on the Ultegra hub first won't fit on the Dura Ace hub (the cassette itself fits fine, apart from the play).

I've been to several LBS's including Condor, and no-one seems to have a washer that fits. Anyone know how to resolve this and if the two are compatible? Cheers.

    Hi there.

    Just a guess, but have you tried missing out the spacer. As far as I can tell, the spacer is there so that you can fit 9 and 10 speed cassettes on the one hub. You need the washer for a 10 speed cassette, as overall it's a little narrower than a 9 speed hub.

    Perhaps the DA hub you've got is 10 speed only, and hence don't need a spacer at all?

    Hi Andy. You're right in that at Dura Ace 10s cassette doesn't need a spacer, but the Ultegra 10s does seem to need one. There is noticeable lateral play on the hub, as there would be on an Ultegra hub without the spacer fitted.

    Problem is that the Ultegra spacer (or any other spacer I've tried) doesn't seem to fit the DA hub.
