If its a DJ fork, then a the DJ! The MX simply not strong enough, and while the Tora is sturdier, its not designed to be jumped on.0
-
thing is its only light dj and not much at that its becoming just more and more trail based. tbh within maybe a month or 2 it'll just be trails0
-
I'd get the Tora then, its a stiff, multi adjustable fork.0
-
do you know of anyone who is running the current 08 model? just bit cautious as in mbuk it didn't get fantstic reviews and was labelled as being 'first for upgrading'0
-
I got 3 Toras! They have the same lower legs, bushings and seals as the revelation, but stiffer uppers, steerer and crown (albeit heavier). The 318 has the same damper bar the adjustable floodgate. Its is better than the 302 - overall a great fork for the money.0
-
fair enough i think i may well take you up on that advice then, just out of interest what bikes are you running them on?0
-
Tora 302 is on the Idrive, Tora 318 air on the Ruckus, and have a 318 coil in pieces that I bought cheap for spares! I also had one last year on the Zaskar, but sold it for something lighter.0
-
and you've never felt the need or urge to upgrade? sorry for all the questions just in my world this is an expensive descion0
-
If I had the money, I might, but right now I am very impressed by the performancef for the money. Of course I upgraded the fork on the Zaskar, but to a much lighter race specific XC fork (manitou skarab). The Ruckus and Idrive are very much budget oriented builds, and I dont see a better fork for the money!0

thanks for all your advice, just out ofinterest why not the marzocchi mx pro?0
-
Compared to a 318 air, its heavier, flexier, not as strong and has less adjustability.0
-
The tora's were all i needed, although i now have pikes for sexy bolt through action0
-
ride_whenever, what bike did you use your tora's on? which model did you have?
what did you use them for?0 -
I have have the new Fox 36r's on my Orange 5 AM
there travel adjusted from 100mm 130mm 160mm travel
These are great all rounders point them down anything rough and
you just fly and when you go back up wind the forks down to
100mm and are brilliant.
Maybe next year they would have lock out
Great fork i dont know about the rest.0 -
Van 36s are about 3 times the price of the other forks he had listed!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0
-
triple the price of the rest lol0
-
i wish i could afford foxes lol, so for mainly trail duties the tora 318's are better than dj2's/mx pro's0
-
they were on this bike and don't we all wish we could afford foxes.0
-
I ran coil Tora 318s on an Orange P7. Lovely fork for the money if weighty but you gets what you pays....0

I have a tora 318 coil on my hardtail, it performs fantastically, a joy to ride.
However its not the lightest at 2400ish grams, hence why I am upgrading to a Reba once I have the cash.0
