Sturmey Archer Rear Sprocket Sheared
I had the 3 inner/splined teeth on the rear sprocket shear off today (sturmey Archer 5spd hub). Okay, I was "giving it some", in top gear, on an incline. But these things must be made of mashed potato !
Lucky I was seated at the time or I'd be speaking a few octaves higher
Is this a 'common' occurance? The sprocket is a genuine Sturmey Archer part, about 8 months old and around 6000 miles. Are there stronger sprockets out there?
Thanks

B*gger me - had same thing on my Brompton 3 weeks ago. Well not quite them same, started slipping. Bike shop fitted new Sturmey Archer first of all. Sorted it out myself in the end. had aprox 5k miles on it."I thought of it while riding my bicycle."0
