Lejog in August

I am intending to ride lejog this summer but August seems to be the only convenient time for all involved. We intended to do it in a fairly unplanned ,make it up as you go along sort of way but will that be a nightmare getting campsites/B&B's at short notice?
Any advice from experienced lejogers will be most helpful .
