i'm planning on getting a new front wheel and i thought i'd get halo freedom disc rims on spin doctor hubs as they're from the same company i assumed they'd work well together but when i looked around i found that hope pro 2s are the same price as the spin doctors and i've heard they're really good.
should i stick with the spin doctors or go with hope?
i've heard they're both pretty strong hubs and i doubt i'll be able to break either of them as i'm pretty light. it's just purley which ones better?

um...ok. sure? is what i said about pairing components from th same company complete bull then?I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0

they are rims and hubs, not really a factor.
But I'd go for ex721 on pro II from merlin as they will be stronger.0 -
There is no easy way to compare the hubs. They are likely just to be as strong as each other, and probably use the same cartridge bearings! Nick is the Halo expert. Why the Hope is 3 times as much for the rear, god only knows!0

hope have had good reviews every where though havn't they and they come in anodised blue! much better for me because i'm shallow and easily pleased.
yeah i've think i've decided on hope.
oh actually, when/if i upgrade the rear i'll definatly go for halo because they're much cheaper, should i worry about having a mis-match of hubs?I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0 -
It'll kill the tart inside you. But other than that no, get mavic rims and get them from a good wheelbuilder, merlin are very cheap0

"much better for me because i'm shallow and easily pleased."
Lol, should post on ukmtb, they'd love ya ;-)
Mismatch is just a aesthetic thing really. So down to you!0 -
I agree with 721 rims from Merlin, great builders.0

haha yea thanks i'm off to see if 721s come in bright green...I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0

Heh, Ive seen bright green rims before... now was it Halo who did them?!
The other cartridge bearing hub which is tough and cheap is the DMR revolver.0 -

ah yes but does it come in anodised blue? lol i think i'll stick with Hope now they're good hubs and will probably last me ages. thats good enough for me.I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0

however i'm still open to suggestions on rims...I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0

Go Mavic. Used them for 10 years now, and took a good beating before my 217s died. 521 I had was indestructable. XM317 ok. and the XMax so good so far. Build plays a major factor.0

I always go for mavic, great value. They haven't let me down, so why change....0

Hmm yea i'll check it out are the mavics lighter/stronger than the halos? is it the 721s that are mavics light freeride wheels?I took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0
