Shimano XT M570 chainset - bargain or not?

Chain reaction cycles are doing Shimano XT M570 chainsets for £39.99 (they say reduced from about £119.99 i think). Is this an excellent bargain for someone who needs to replace (and upgrade) their drivetrain? Is it way old technology (no mention of these on shimano's site)? Should I stick with getting new Deore stuff for similar money (I've found whole Deore groupsets online for £150 inc hydros)?
On another note, when I get a new chainset, how do I know what length BB axle to get? I'm assuming that different chainsets need different length axles.
The bike's a 2007 Mongoose Tyax Elite btw.
Thanks for any help!

I think you mean the M750:

Its an older Octalink type. Its good, but the cheaper LX one at 35 quid is better.0 -
cheers for the help (and the LX one states what BB axle length you need as well)0
