Hi All, I'm in Cyprus and I have 700 Euros to get a XC hardtail.
so far I have found 3 bike but cannot come to a conclusion as to which one to get.
1. Marin Hawk Hill SE (2007) 680 Euros
2. Trek 6000 Disc (2007) 700 Euros
3. GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc (2007) Euros
Basic requirements: Hydro Disks, Good frame (Light as poss) and Sus forks.
Would be really greatful is people could let me know there opinions.
Thanks
PS. If you vote it would be good if you could also post why you made that choice.
Thanks
J

Hi. I prefer the GT over the Trek - have ridden both and the GT feels nicer. Have you ridden any of the bikes - this is the best way to decide. Cheers!0

HawkHill is an awfully specced bike, avoid unless you plan some serious upgrades. Test the rest!0

So good of you to give such a constructive post.
Talk about a sweeping statement.
How many models have you ridden exactly?
What's that? None? Fairymuff then.
Why exactly do 'all trek suck'?
The hardtails have been around for years and won many tests, the Sessions and Fuels had bloody good reviews and the Remedy has had amazing reviews so far.
Even the extortionately overpriced Diesel recieved praise for everything except price.
So,do they really 'suck',or do you simply not like them personally?
In reply to the OP,coin toss for me between the GT and Trek, although the Trek is quite possibly a tad harsher on the back end.=========================================
Dot 4 in the eye hurts. Trust me0 -
havn't ridden them but didn't the GT win a MBUK super test and get lots of praise? see if you can find it, the test will probably be on Bike Radar somewhereI took falling off bikes...and turned it into an art!0

Yep, the GT did win that test, really is a good package, but none the less, try and test them out. It does get harder to seperate bikes nowadays, and oftem does come down to more then the frame badge - fork and wheels at this price often play a bigger part than the frame.0

Thanks everyone for the comments, I think I'm going to go for the GT.
just to mess things up a bit more, last night I was looking around and found the new GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc 2008 in my price rage, they also had a
Viper TR 4.0 Hardtail Bike 2007 for the same cash.
So the question again is, Whats best??0
