does the garmin 305 keep a record of your rides on the unit itself or do you need to download it onto your pc?

If its the same as a 205 then the unit does have a facility to store data on rides and is called HISTORY on the unit.
There is a facility to transfer data to your PC

I think it holds up to a 1000 rides and then deletes the oldest one's when this limit is reached.
Obviously, you can download the data at any time so in theory you can keep all the rides you ever do.
Save to say the memory is not a problem.0 -
It should tell you in the instruction manual how many rides are saved in the memory under "History".0
