Focus Super Bud 2008 - More Questions!

I have read previous threads abou this bike but was wondering if anyone would recommend it to me.

Currently I am riding a giant hardtail on XC stuff in the peaks and also wales and the lakes at afan, marin etc and am looking to do more technical riding. I want something fairly light that will go uphill and be a good intro to full sus. I want to pay about 850 - 1200.

I am 6'4 and 15 st if that is relevant so am looking at xtra large currently.

I wonder if anyone has one in the midlands that I could have a look at and sit on? I live in nottingham but am often out in derbyshire/cannock chase etc.

PS Does anyone have any views on the Kona Kikapu Deluxe? I have seen it reduced a lot. Is it a good bike? Is it comparable to the Focus?

    Do you think it compares with any bikes you can get in the shops in terms of sizing and riding position or spec?

    i ordered mine recently & have been told that wiggle will have stock on the med by early march so i will be able to give a full review then.

    threads about this bike are popping up all over, again I got mine ordered from wiggle witing on delivery though, although I'm pretty sure stock arrives late march not early i-drive

    And it is my first Full suss.

    Awsome bike, you got to hand it to the germans, a bike that the bits cost more than the price? work that one out eh!

    It is smooth and plush, and I have rode it everyday, to work and on trail and it is still brand new feeling.

    Brakes are awsome, they stop on a dime, im 5.11 and got a small and its pretty much perfect.

    I would recomend this bike to anyone, but would not recomend wiggle.

    And the picture does not do it justice, it is a sweet looking bike, and all the local yobs are drooling, and so many comments on the bike, which I never had before off other bikes, beutiful powder coat paint.

    Would only change the Seat and pedals.

    Trust me it is worth every penny

    Far superior spec on the Focus, compared to the Kikapu deluxe. If you can source one from Europe, rather that Wiggle then go for it. Having said that, there's loads more bikes worth considering up to the £1200 price point.

    no it is definately early march.
    when you view the product it only gives you a rough idea on delivery.to get an exact date add all four sizes to your basket & you will see that small is late march xl is late march large has no confimed date where as med ie mine says due early march,try it youll see.wiggle have allways been spot on for me & to be honest i reckon ill have it in the next 10 days im not saying i get preferential treatment or anything but i think spending over 4k with them over the last 2 years might help i don,t know.

    let's hope it is in the next ten days, I'm going off my nut lol, I'm gonna be upgrading from a saracen mantra, its gonna make the world of difference to my riding!

    I emailed wiggle yesterday and got this reply today

    "Thank you for your email.

    We are sorry but we are still awaiting stock to fulfil your order. The latest information we have is as follows, if we receive any further information we will let you know.

    Focus Super Bud 2008 Black/Reinweiss M/47cm are now showing as 2-7 days, I have sent an email to the supplier to chase these.

    We cannot be more specific at this stage but we will do our best to deliver this to you ASAP.

    Hi,
    I have had a Focus super bud since December,I am 5'10 and had a large, i do not like to be cramped up on long rides,I would recomend this bike to anyone,for ride, spec value,build quality and design.
    I also have a Marin east peak(L) and a cannondale scalpel(M), all three are awesome in their own right,I thought i might be taking a risk by buyiny a relitively unknown brand,but with lots of net surfing and the spec alone Im glad I did.

    Highly ecommended all rounder. :lol::lol:

    Thanks for the info guys. In the end I decided to get a Kona King Kikapu 07. At just over 800 I saved a bit of cash and got a similar spec and was able to try the bike beforehand.
