Have recently become a one car family due to economic needs £££££££££ !!. Am now doing the 8 mile each way commute to work on my old MTB, it hurt at first but the legs are getting used to it. When you leave the car on the drive beause you can't afford to fill it up with petrol, it has to go.

I've never owned one. Then again I don't have kids, or live in the country, or have a partner who works 60 miles away so have no real use for one. Renting occasionally makes far more sense.

Edit: But hats off to you for getting rid of it- it's easier to say you don't need one having never had one than it is giving it up if you already do.

I've never learnt how to drive and thinking of never bothering, as I get around allot on my bike, although it makes me think, not learning to drive would limit job opportunities in the future, and it would be good to go out for a spin now and again for some fun, cant do that without a driving license though lol.

One guy I know in College last year was working all hours he could, and it was all going on maintaining his car, a crappy old Ford Escort :\
