Helmet Chin Straps

I don't mind wearing a helmet, but I always find the chin straps uncomfortable. Particularly when I'm warm, I find the straps rub and chafe under my chin.

This might be a daft question, but is there such a thing as an upgraded chin strap? I'd love a nice soft one.

Why do they rub and chafe ? Your helmet shouldnt be moving ? Maybe just relax the strap a bit if its cutting into your jaw ? I never even notice my helmet.

Rinse and wash the straps. With sweat and dirt, they can get harder with use. So some warm soapy water can bring them back to new.

I find when I'm riding, and sweating, the straps inevitably move around a bit, hence the rubbing. Nylon is not the gentlest of materials.

You could just loosen the straps up a bit?

The Catlike Whisper comes with a removable soft felt cover that wraps around the chin strap and is secured with a type of velcro.
He said, "You should be riding a Fixie" I replied, "But, Dad, I'm 62 years old".

Don't loosen them too much. The helmet is there to protect you when you fall and if the strap isn't on right, then when you hit the ground at speed, having a loose strap to let the helmet roll or slide will reduce the effective protection a lot.

Aldi were selling helmets for about £8 and they had a roc-loc styleee device and a spongy felt covering the buckle part. Fantastic value.
