Need advice on buying a full sus bike to carry about 20stone.
Would the kona stinky be suitable? Cost is an issue.

Mmm i would go HT. the sticky is more for pointing down a hill. not up one.

  • Kona make the Hoss, designed specifically for bigger riders.
It's a hardtail with beefed up components, the fork will be set up for heavier riders too.
It's worth bearing in mind that any full susser you buy will have the shock and forks set up for a 10-12 stone rider. Not such a problem with air shocks, but if you go for coils you're lookng an new springs straightaway.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Get an Orange 5 28lbs in weight start from and extensive upgrade options

Ive just bought the 5 AM and what a dream
Big forks on this one and point the forks at roots and anything else and
    you fly over.

    Hand built in England

This bike always scores highly in all the magazines
Very robust and light will be an ideal bike for you

Take a test bike where you ride and see for yourself.

    Good Luck

but would it be suitable for a 20st rider????

Personaly I would get a hard tail with front suspension, once you got your skills up and weight down then treat yourself to a nice full suspension bike.

edit: there is a very good sticky thread in the health and fittnes section you should have a look at.
