Does 12-34 cassette require long cage rear mech?

Just as was thinking I had found the perfect set of bits for my build, I am concerned that I should perhaps have bought a long cage rear mech to go with my 12-34 cassette.

is this the case or will I be able to use a standard mech (which is what i now own?).

no. front chain ring related. but you will need a longer chain.

Many thanks for that clarification and also for your recent advice regarding fork travel - I am now sorted there too!

Just have to finish the build and get out to ride.

I have a short cage XT mech on an 11 - 34 cassette, but I only run two chainrings. If I was to use three chainrings, I'd need the longer cage to take up the extra chain, but as it stands it's fine.
