I've got one of these chainsets fitted to my bike. I intend to replace it with a Shimano Hollowtech 2 Tiagra chainset. I'll be buying the tool to fit the Shimano BB bearings and just wondered if the same tool will fit the BB bearings on the FSA.

As above, the answer is yes. However, unless the BB is worn you don't need to change it. FSA and Shimano HT2 external BBs are interchangeable.

Hypocrisy is only a bad thing in other people.

Thanks for that Gary, that's even better news.
  • Sorry to hijack the topic a bit: Why do you want to replace the FSA? Have you had problems with it? I'm only asking cause I've got one, never had any problem but it's aging a bit and I wonder what to replace it with (possibly with Gossamer again)
    Cheers

i have the same chainset got some creaking at start but changed fsa bearings to shimano and seems okay since
I was going to change mine for an ultegra one then read that cancellera rides the gossamer chainset and one a tour stage on it so if it is good enough for him......

Hi PJ, no probs. I don't like the ring sizes on my FSA (52-42-30). I Could replace the rings I suppose but I prefer the look of the Shimano and it has smaller rimgs (50-39-30). At £34 from Ribble it's a bargain and probably cheaper than replacing the rings on the FSA.
