It's my husband's birthday soon and he's expressed an interest in wheel building and trueing. I was hoping to get him a DVD and a stand but I've got no idea what to get or how to choose a good one. Any ideas?

this is what you want... might be pricey but its not rubbish.

you can get a kit with the jig, a dishing tool and a spoke key,

as for a dvd i don't know of one, i would go for a copy of "the bicycle wheel" by jobst brandt
prob need to get it off t'bay or something but it is regarded as the bible for wheel building

i'm sure someone will be along in a minute with more suggestions

I have a Park TS-2 and it's excellent. I have built wheels perfectly happily on a TS-8 stand though, which is a lot cheaper. You'll also need to get a dishing tool (like a Park WAG-4) and a spoke key (Park black type or a spokey)

I'd also highly recommend Roger Musson's cheap e-book, available from www.wheelpro.co.uk - it's excellent and the only guide you need to build successfully.

I use Roger Musson's book. Its easy to follow and not too technical. Jobst brant book I borrowed from the library. It was very technical in places.
