Hello

Recently changed from mountain bike to an old Dawes Galaxy for commuting. Loaded up this morning (quite heavy, laptop etc, so will be lighter most of the time), the front felt really unstable. Is this normal and just something i'm going to have to get used to with a loaded bike , or is it possible i'm going to have to re-distribute the weight around a bit The load was split across two panniers on the factory fitted rack?It was that bad at times that i didn't have the confidence to reach down to the gear lever while moving, any advice appreciated.

cheers

  • You say the Galaxy is old. Have you had it serviced recently? Check the tyres, tyre pressures, play in the headset, play in the wheels. Distribute the weight as evenly as possible (front to back too if you can). It could also be a small period of adjustment is needed to get used to the feel of a different bike - but definitely give it a physical check over.
