Spark, Genius or Ransom?

Comments

  • A strange question which only you can answer. If you ride predominantly XC and going uphill fast is a priority, get the Spark. If you ride 'all mountain', and you want to strike a compromise between performance going uphill and down, get the Genius. If you're a more aggressive all-mountain rider with a bias towards downhill, get the Ransom.

Perhaps I'm being unfair, but I can't help feeling that if you don't know whether a thoroughbred XC race machine, a hard-core all mountain rig, or something in between, would be a better match for your riding style, you probably don't need any of them.

you can get the 07 models for a very reduced price on all scotts

What i have read that the spark shock is pointless
will try and find mag for you and post issue on here.

They did review the MC20 in Mountain Bike UK issue no 215 in September 2007
They do have the review on this site.
Go to mounttain bike reviews and clck mountain bikes.
    And find the page.

I bought the Orange 5 which came first in the test

But try them on the type of terrain you want to ride and youll find the bike
    that suits you

    Good luck
  • fact is that ransome ltd is only 30lb, so could easily be an all day bike, with bit hit potential.

Genius is a great all rounder ans the spark is superlight, so would be amazing on the ups, but maybe couldn't cut it on the downs.

So, if you were going for just one, which of the above qualities would you prioritize?

If you wanted one bike for everything, then the Ransom Ltd would be the best, no contest. However, the other two would come into their own on different terrain. It really does depend on the terrain you are riding.

Can ayone help me. I have a Kona Kahuna and I am trying to fit a pump to the frame but the bols in the frame are just turning and I cannot get them out
  • Ransom!! :) (hmmm cant imagine why I would say that....oh yeh, my sig!)
I bought the Ransom simply because if its all round capabilities, I love it so far. It is noticably slower than the Scale I used to have, but that is expected as its full sus and a bit heavier.

Hi I am looking at the Scott Spark 10 for a full suspension bike. Where have you read that the shock is pointless? And how come you decided to get an Orange instead of a Spark?

    Thanks.
