    Paris-Roubaix is one of the oldest and most prestigious one day classic road races and features about 50km of bone-jarring cobbles (pavè). You might like to ride a comfy carbon bike (ie Spec Roubaix) to absorb some of the bumps and as the weather is often rubbish, wear some fleecy backed roubaix tights. See!

    Is the bit about the tights material true - that the material got its name 'cos this is where it was first used/invented specifically for?

    Roubaix was a textile manufacturing town, the race was started (well, paid for I guess) by textile manufacturers from the town as a publicity thing for the town and their businesses
