VPP or Single Pivot?

Howdy,
I'm in the process of choosing a new bike, and I'm pretty set on either an SC Heckler, or a Blur LT.
I ride Grizedale's North Face mostly, and sometimes Gisburn with the occasional trip to Wales. I don't do big hits or drops, and I'm just looking for something that'll make me faster and more comfortable without taking the skill out of choosing a line.
Anyone got any advice?

Hi Both are great bikes
For what i hear the Heckler is more relaxed and as you know single pivot
The Blur thats more cross country with longer travel and climbs
very well
They do a shorter travel Blur but no one i know of has one.
Must say i just bought an Orange 5 and you should try one
Single pivot it may be but you know whats going on behind you.
And very light too.
With the Orange and no doubt the Santa Cruz bikes there are options
to add to your bike.
I tried a Stumpjumper and could not get on with the brain but as they say
its not for everyone.
What ever one you chose from the above bikes will put a smile on your
face.0 -
I've got an old style ex-demo heckler in my garage, sold it under the impression it was the new style and I don't want it, so it's going back. I've ridden the new Heckler and it feels different, better. I like my "light" riding, floating over rather than ploughing through. I think in this way the Blur would be better. I'd go for something with less travel if I thought I wouldn't ever need it, but chances are with trips away and all, there'll be times I will.
I fear that whichever I get I'll be left wanting the other.0 -
Try them out, only way. You may prefer one over the other.0

I can't get a Blur LT demo until June. I can't get to any demo days either. The closest I'll come to that bike is my Intense 5.5 demo at the beginning of april, but there's no way I'm buying one of those as a first full sus.
The only good thing about the June demo is that the new Blur'll be out by then so I could pick up an old one for much less than full retail price.0 -
i've got a heckler which i bought 18 months ago so it's not the new model but i've been very happy with it, built with fox 36 talas forx and the all mountain upgrade it can take anything i can throw at it, weighs about 30lbs, no problem whether you're riding up or down because of the adjustable travel forks, feels very sure footed and very responsive, i've not ridden the blur so can't comment on that but would recommend a heckler, i ride regularly on salisbury plain, dartmoor and cwn carn so quite varied terrain0
