disc brake roter wont work please help

hi i went to put a new disc roter on today and it was fine and then i put the mount on to the frame and the brake but i cant get the brake to line up with the disc it just wont move in less the bolts are really lose

    What brakes?

    What frame?

    Are you replacing like-for-like on the same hub

    You have not changed any parts around?

    kona scrap frame

    hayes hfx 9 carbon brakes

    they worked fine with the old roter but just not with the new one it is on the back of the bike

    Thats a strange one:

    you have checked the pistons?

    loosened off the caliper bolts to allow centering over rotor?

    Same standard rotor as before?

    dont worrie guys i have done it now just needed a few washers to raise the brake up dose make a sligt rubbing noise but i think thats because the disc is a bit bent (and or) because of my new pads

    so you had the wrong adapter for the disc.
