I just picked up a nice conditon Claud Butler Roubaix off ebay for my spring/summer work commute and wondered if anyone has been able to fit proper SKS style guards? Its an older model in black with red flashes and alloy forks, i noticed the rear end had guard eyes but i cant recall if the front forks did or not - having only picked it up last night.

Otherwise i do have some race blades that will do a similar job..........but i'd rather full guards if possible.

I've got a Claud Butler Milano which is pretty much the same as the Roubaix and I managed fit SKS mud guards to it no problem.
  • Hi, the Milano certainly looks like the same frame as the Roubaix!

Is yours a new/recent model with/without carbon forks?? Did you have to bodge anything or use zip ties etc to fix them? Only i dont have a pair to hand so would have to buy some to see if they fit or not!!!

Only critical factor is surely whether or not there is sufficient clearance for 'grds beneath fork crown/caliper and seat stay bridge/caliper? Pretty much anything else can be worked around - e.g. P-clips if no rear eyes, brackets fixed to front axle if no fork eyes.

My milano is a 2005 model. The back SKS's fitted OK with the rubber attachments. The front one would have to attached with zip ties as the carbon forks were too wide for the rubber bits, but this is OK as the SKS's have holes especially for zip ties, so it's not a bodge job.
