ok who can suggest something to ride on sunday, something a bit DH/freeride style, i normally ride chicksands but fancy something fresh, must be able to get to it from a train though as i still dont drive

Been to Cannock Chase (follow the dog XC trail and a downhill section too)? Not sure about the rail connections, but its close enough to Rugely town and I am sure not more than a 10 min ride from the station.0
