Brakes wearing in?

I have a set of Record calipers that are second hand so the pads have some wear on them. They're in charge of stopping a pair of brand new campag Eurus by way of some Centaur ergos. Trouble is, they don't seem very sure compared to my old 105 brakes on open pro rims which seemed to work very well on what is now my hack/turbo bike. I was wondering if the brake/rims need to get better aquainted before they'll work at their best? At the moment I'll put the brakes on and it'll take a little while to stop despite everything being set up and adjusted correctly.

i'd just stick some koolstop dual compunds in. cheap and effective.

chain reaction usually have them in stock at a good price.

Well, I wondered if it was the pads but I was expecting a pair of record brakes to be better than my old 105's with old pads and little attention paid to them?
